POSITION SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares, packages, and distributes medications; performs clerical duties related to the operation of a pharmacy; and performs other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Selects drugs from stock for preparation: counts, pours, or mixes pharmaceuticals; places pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affixes labels to containers; packages and repackages pharmaceuticals to other clinics.

• Monitors prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals that must be returned to manufacturer

• Receives prescriptions and obtains information from patients at pharmacy window to determine insurance eligibility; using a computerized system, enters prescription data to create a patient profile.

• Maintain accountability for day-to-day patient reimbursement activities, workload and overall workflow.

• Work on patient's behalf to identify and assess reimbursement coverage options for those with insurance and to coordinate and/or investigate financial options for those without insurance.

• Work with physician offices and other Apothecary Shop retail locations to facilitate the process of obtaining prior authorization from third party payers in order to maximize patients' access to treatment.

• Monitor, follow-up with and record all insurance re-authorizations required by payers to help ensure compliance and continuity of treatment.

• Help support the appeal process to overturn insurance denials and/or benefit exclusions when needed.

• Answers telephones and takes messages for patient refill requests and related pharmacy business

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications to patients or medical practitioners

• Oversees the preparation of all necessary records on prescriptions, patient charges.

This position is responsible for the daily leadership and direction of the Call Center for our National Specialty Pharmacy. • Oversees the implementation of customer service surveys.

• Stays updated on industry trends and regulations and ensures call center compliance such as HIPAA and PHI.

• Prepare for, implement and communicate new initiatives and processes.

• In partnership with Human Resources, ensures prompt resolution of corrective action plans and employee relations issues.

• Reports metrics, service levels, production and costs to General Manager.

• Represents call center operations in cross functional meetings, projects and processes.
