Laboratory Manager
Location:
Deer Valley, Phoenix
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
GM, Mail Order and Product Fulfillment
POSITION SUMMARY:
Direct and supervise all preparation of compounded products made in the Deer Valley laboratory for all internal and external customers. Research all compounded formulas to ensure safety and proper preparation and enter proprietary formulations into company shared “Compounder” database. Will act as clinical compounding liaison for both sales and operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Service and satisfy the physician and customer’s questions regarding compounded prescription needs.
- Provide support and service to other Apothecary Shop Labs as requested
- Openly communicate with physician and patients, while protecting their confidential health and drug information.
- Provide counsel to physicians and patients having questions or problems with compounded medication.
- Act as a professional resource for new product development and ensure compliance with all company procedures and federal and state laws, rules and regulations related to compounded medication.
- Enter all new compound formulations in the company shared compounding software and ensure accuracy and stability of each formula
- Manage workflow and staffing in the laboratory
- Supervise preparation of all medications made in the laboratory
- Enter formulas for compounded prescriptions for all the stores in to company shared database
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to research all compounded formulas to ensure safety and proper preparation
- Have knowledge and ability to apply principles and practices involved in compounding and sterile product compounding
- Have knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and doses.
- Have knowledge in preparation and use of percentages including stock solutions
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team building skills
- Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent attendance record
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
- Minimum 2 years compounding pharmacy experience or working in a hospital clean room.
- Minimum 2 years experience managing a pharmacy or a team of pharmacy technicians.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Arizona state licensure in good standing

The physical demands and work environment are characteristic of those found in a typical laboratory environment. Potential exposure to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some chemicals are classified as toxic and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals).
