Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra®) Suppositories

Description:
The pharmacist, using sildenafil citrate (Viagra) tablets, compounds the medication into suppositories to be used vaginally. The commonly prepared strength of the suppository is 25 mg.

How It Works:
Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) suppositories are sometimes used in women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) therapy to potentially enhance the blood flow to the uterus and possibly improve the endometrial lining of the uterus. Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) suppositories are administered vaginally where it is absorbed locally to potentially increase the blood flow to the uterus through its vasodilatory effects. The suppositories are used during the stimulation phase of the cycle.

Potential Side Effects:
Headache, dizziness, flushing of face, upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, and hypotension. Heart attacks, strokes, irregular heart beat and death have been reported rarely in men taking Viagra. Most, but not all of these men had heart problems before taking this medicine. It is not possible to determine whether these events were directly related to Viagra.

If you take any medicines that contain nitrates-either regularly or as needed-use should never use Viagra suppositories. If you are not sure if any of your medicines contain nitrates, consult your physician before using Viagra suppositories.

Consult your physician if you have any pre-existing risk factors such as cardiovascular, kidney or liver problems.

If you experience an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue or face; or hives; seek emergency attention immediately.

PLEASE NOTE: If these or any other side effects occur, contact your physician.

Storage:
Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) suppositories may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature. *Please note: you must remove the plastic casing prior to use*
